Married to a monster: An interview with Jennifer Moston
He was handsome. He was charming. He had a Phd. He was a schoolteacher. He was a dad. He wrote poems...and he was an absolute monster.
Jennifer Moston quickly fell head over heels with a man who on paper seemed perfect. He quickly showed her otherwise.
In today's episode Jennifer Moston shares her incredibly brave story of escaping her abusive husband and ultimately fighting to have him imprisoned. She details this hair-raising experience with complete vulnerability and honesty. As an educated, financially successful, career-driven woman, Jennifer is not the picture of domestic violence that you probably imagine. That is one of the many reasons that Jen is now on outspoken advocate for victims of domestic violence and a reminder that domestic violence can affect people of all socioeconomic backgrounds, all education levels, all races, and all genders.
Domestic violence can happen on the street with the biggest houses. It can happen to married couples, to same sex couples, and to couples that are dating.
Across the globe an estimated 736 million women, (one in three) have been subjected to physical or sexual violence at least once in their lifetimes.
